SEARCH FOR QUENCH
Herders are forced to walk with their livestock for over 15 kilometers to river Muruny in search of water which is essential to them. The main reason for the water shortage is the activities of onion farmers in the upper region, where most of the rivers originate, who divert water to their farms for irrigation.
Residents now say that many girls in the region have been forced to drop out of school to help their parents search for water.
Teachers are now appealing to both the county and national governments to drill more bore holes in the area.
